Learn to Dive

Ever thought about learning to Scuba Dive? UoN Sub Aqua has the instructors and facilities to provide training for all levels of divers. Whether you are a complete novice or already qualified we offer the perfect training course to continue your diving.

All our training is done in accordance with BSAC (British Sub-Aqua Club) standards, the british national governing body for scuba diving. All of our qualifications are globally recognised. So not only can you dive with us, but you can take your qualification and scuba dive all over the world without further training!

If you are an already qualified diver with an agency that isn’t BSAC (PADI, SSI, CMAS, etc) then you are welcome to continue your training right where you left off with us. Check out the Crossover Divers section of the website for more information!

Ocean Diver

If you do not have a Scuba Diving qualification then Ocean Diver is the course for you! It introduces you to scuba diving, the equipment and teaches you the skills required to safely conduct dives in open water. Upon completion you will be qualified to dive anywhere in the world, within the limits of conditions experienced in your training!

For more information check out the Ocean Diver Qualification

Sports Diver

Already a qualified diver and want to continue learning? Sports Diver is the course for you! Sports Diver builds on the foundations layed by Ocean Diver, or any other introductory scuba qualification and teaches more advanced diving skills to increase your diving knowlege and skill set!

Upon qualifying as a Sports Diver, you will be qualified to conduct more advanced dives to greater depths. For more information check out the Sports Diver Qualification!

Dive Leader

Dive Leader is BSACs equivalent to most agencies first professional qualification (Divemaster etc). It builds on already established skills, teaching more advanced rescue management skills, dive planning and other advanced skills!

Upon qualifying as a Dive Leader, you will extend your depth limit and be qualified to lead less experienced divers to conditions unfamiliar to them.

It is also the minimum diver grade to qualify as an Open Water Instructor. Find out more about the Dive Leader qualification under further training!

Skill Development Courses

In addition to the core diver grades we offer skill development courses (SDCs) to further increase your diving skills and knowlege. Across the year we run multiple SDCs, from Boat Handling courses to Rescue Management, and from underwater photography to technical diving courses.

Whether you want to learn to drive the club boats or extend your diving skills by learning advanced decompression procedures and twinset skills, we’ll have the course for you!

Further Diver Grade Training

Beyond Dive Leader, BSAC has two further grades, Advanced Diver and First Class Diver. Advanced diver builds on an experienced Dive Leaders training to plan and operate expedition diving to new dive sites, never dived by the club before. Check out the further training section of the website for more information!

First Class Diver is BSACs premium diver grade and is taught at a national level. For further information get in contact with our training officers who can help you out!
